Mirelle Borra's artistic practice explores forms of representation beyond the standard expectations of documentary imagery. Using photography and video, she engages with social and political topics in an attempt to re-frame these issues in new ways. Borra seeks to examine structures of representation through a transnational perspective while staying in constant dialog with the context from which the work is derived. Her work has been shown in several international art festivals and exhibitions, such as Art in General, NYC, the 7th Berlin Biennale, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, and the 59th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen. Borra was born in the Netherlands, and after living in New York City for many years, she is currently based in Berlin.
